I don’t mean on the CH site, that’s been a pimped out mess for months.
I am talking about receiving advertising e-mails from CH. I thought that when Marssey & her circle of great guru’s banished me with eternal suspension I would stop getting their pathetic dribble laden advertising e-mails. I guess my thought was no good!
I’ve been on Chowhound since 2006 and have never received a single advertising email. What’s in them, out of curiosity?

I wonder if emails only go to people who received email notification of posts. I never signed up for that and have never received an email from CH except from an occasional mod.

Last one was advertising holiday meal ideas by different food manufactures if memory serves me correctly.
I got that one too.
You must be opted into something that I’m opted out of. I bet you can change your profile to cease receiving the emails.

A couple years ago I changed internet providers and because my CH sign in still worked I never bothered to notify CH of the change (new email address) so I never got any emails from them including Mod warnings regarding my comments on the recent format change.
One day my sign in stopped working but the message said incorrect email address or bad password. I figured the new format/program caught up with the fact that the email address they had in their system for me was no longer active and purged it.
I then rejoined CH providing my new email address which was essentially the same but for the provider… old = Verizon.net , new = Comcast.net.
Thats when dearest Marssey sent me an email on my new email address that I provided when I rejoined that my temporary suspension which I did not know existed was being made permanent for trolling with a second account.
I sent her a detailed email on a 3rd grade level outlining the entire email change history and all the problems that it created when I failed to notify them of the change but she either didn’t have the gray matter to figure it out or she was just too arrogant to change her decision.
More than likely when I rejoined there was a pre-checked box that allowed CH to send advertising emails. Since my login is suspended I can’t gain access to un-check the box.
I’m certain you can email her from your spammed addy and ask her to unsub you. Failing that, mark it as spam and your mail client will filter it out.
I think I figured out why she didn’t respond.

Sure, I’m open. I fear I may be unintentionally too PC-insensitive. Is the risk worth it?

The 3rd grade level (KISS) was so that the entire chain of events that led to the lack of communication ability which led to the misunderstanding would be easy to follow in the order they occurred.
Judging by how many long term CH members who were regular contributors got suspended for voicing their opinions about the format change I would side with lack of gray matter for making the changes to begin with & an incredible level of arrogance in the manner complaints were handled.

The tone in which you describe your interactions with Marssy - sarcastically calling her “dearest,” suggesting you’ll send her a “case of laxatives” - probably made it into your third-grade-level note. At which point she (or someone - she’s not the boss over there) likely decided you were more trouble than you’re worth. I’m quite sure that’s what happened to a lot of the banned. Their value was exceeded by their pain-in-the-ass-ness, because the moderators got tired of cleaning up after their tantrums. I’m miles from defending the redesign - I hate it, and I have complained and continue to complain about it - but I don’t want to get banned, because there’s still a fair amount of action on my home board. And so I try to keep my pain-in-the-ass-ness out of the red zone.

Actually, many were suspended simply for repreatedly pointing out how little traffic there was, or how poorly the Beta/New version functioned.
Marrssey and Co. simply trumped up anything that was posted which disputed the sycophants’ drivel.

Are we really going to spend time here rehashing old news and hard feelings from CH, or can we leave all of that to that other place?
We can do better here, I just fail to see how it benefits anyone to drag the negativity from over there with us.
