Feedback to follow after the trip
Food look yummy!!
Day 1 started with a bang with an immaculate prix fixe lunch at Milos. I am quite familiar with their set menu from Vegas as had been go to spot as I prefer it over middling food at buffets. I opted for a supplement add-on of lobster pasta. Octopus as a starter is dependable as ever. Lobster pasta imo is worth upgrading if you like this dish as I paid almost 3x the price on my last trip for an inferior version.
Dessert was ok as I was quite full.
Dinner was more of a snack affair with modavie. I enjoyed the garlic snails. Bone marrow was bone dry (pun intended) with hardly an marrow on both halves. Good music set as usual.
Kougin Amman and cappuccino was early next morning at crew and co. Decent with an Instagram worthy setup
Day 2 was O four it’s more of a fast food spot and decent for what one pays. This day’s spots were picked by friends who are from the region and we ordered to a bunch of items. I enjoyed the dips. The sandwich was ok I wish it packed a little more wallop. My friends said the stuff is authentic.
Drinks were at Bar George I recall this building but don’t know what was here before. Apparently a renovated hotel. The bar has character and a live DJ and surprisingly a lineup started to form just to get in!
Prices are high. Good service and decent drinks.
Dinner was at Abu Zulof.
I was told portions are large here and they do have some live entertainment later. I didn’t want to over eat so went and with a couple of apps to share and fish as a main. The salad is a hefty portion and done well. Dips are normal sized I think. Fish was grilled well. A decent find considering how touristy this area can get.
Day 3 started with brunch at Pincette and nice cappuccino and croissant from 49th parallel Cafe (adding pics). 49th parallel is as dependable as their original locations in Vancouver kudos for keeping up the quality.
Pincette is more of a chain style take on lobster dishes (44$ for half a lobster with sides) though I would rather pay the supplemental charge at Milos over this any day Alas it’s not an option on the weekends. Hmm I would skip this spot.
Monarque was picked by my friends who live near Montreal. The place is humongous and was packed to gills. There are two areas the brasserie and the formal dining area with set menu. I wish they had picked the brasserie as a la cart menu had some dishes that I would have preferred.
I had the snow crab starter, followed by sweet bread.
Snow crab is a delicate affair with nuanced taste and subtle seasoning. Good start. Sweet bread hmm I felt the seasoning was bit off with sudden hits of salt and then mellows. The sweet bread itself is cooked well.
I shared the main of beef rib (I think they might want to label it as rib eye as that’s what it is) it’s meant to be shared with 2 and comes with a big salad, peppercorn sauce and potato gratin. All good. The portion with the starters would fill up a good appetite.
I had to have the tarte tatin as one of my fav desserts. It was large enough to share among 3 and done well. This was a pricey meal but with the mandatory 3 course req I would look ahead before booking this area otherwise the brasserie would be a better pick. Repeat visit for moi for the brasserie area
Oh boy chez teta packs the place for brunch. I guess similar to Toronto brunch spots IMO fall between meh to average to few above average. This one is slightly above average. The cardamom latte is top notch. The dips of baba ganough and muhammara are decent though I didn’t enjoy the zaatar chips. The cheese kebab flat bread I ordered was ok and isn’t worth the wait times. I saw a few people grab and go and just eat outside instead of waiting. Could be an option as this is grab and go food.
