I forgot all about posting about this place, the family and I ate here about two weeks ago. Similar to CJ I found the place to be decent, the service issues as mentioned by @joonjoon have certainly been cleared up, I had -0- service issues. (and remember I’m a jerk when it comes to service)
Look Asian and sushi are not my things, so I’m not going to jokingly compare this to other places. All I can say is enjoyed everything (my daughter) ordered, including the “hibachi” type offerings besides the sushi. The only thing I didn’t understand, nor did I ask about, is they give you a complimentary bowl of fried asian noodles, like any typical Chinese restaurant, however no dipping sauces. I enjoy the spicy mustard at most Chinese restaurants…even some duck sauce for my rice…again I didn’t ask just thought it was odd they served the noodles and nothing else.
Honestly for $ 28, I think this place is going to seriously hurt my AYCE Chinese Buffet up the road in the old Shop RIte plaza. The food is certainly superior to the buffet and the sushi options are FAR superior as is the overall dining environment and experience. For the additional $ 6 or $7 it’s hard to say this isn’t the far superior option. Just my $ .02
We don’t get mustard and I don’t think they even have duck sauce in L.A. We get chili paste and soy sauce, sometimes a soy/vinegar sauce with ginger if you’re having Northern Chinese.
Out here a hibachi is a little grill kept in the balcony if you’re 23 years old and living in an apartment.
You should come visit Los Angeles! We have the best Chinese and Japanese and Korean in the country.
Lol thanks for the offer but I’m not sure I’m a left coast kind of guy. I did spend a week in Palm Desert once and holy cow was it hot! (no I wasn’t at the Betty Ford clinic) So for now I will have to kindly decline the invite, but if I ever change my mind I’ll let you know.
(unless @sck wants to fly me out on a sort of Right Coast to Left Coast HO good will tour)
Just returned from dinner there with my daughter after some holiday shopping. I like the place honestly it’s a great format and atmosphere for a AYCE. The sushi is pretty good, although I’m not claiming to be a sushi expert, Mets say it’s good American sushi. Honestly if they had peel n eat shrimp I would stop going to the Chinese Buffet up the road the overall kwality of their food has gone down hill, probably because of this place.
Not sure if there is still ayce but stopped in first time for dinner last night. Everything tasty and fresh. Shrimp hibachi and house sushi plate for entrees, started with age tofu and shumai.
Did Mizu continue to cancel the AYCE? I know we visited one time during the early days of dining in, and I was pretty sure they didn’t do the AYCE at that time, I thought it would return?
I’ve been there twice, around the time they opened. I want to say they quit AYCE during the pandemic. I think we probably won’t see AYCE return at most places that abandoned it.
Went to Neelam the other day and they said they will start dine in soon but have no plans for buffet.
I still cry slightly when I pass the strip mall on 36 where the now demolished Chinese Buffet use to be. When I think back on all those delicious peels and eat shrimp, the frozen fried shrimp and the grilled foods. While it was far from “quality” there were certainly plenty of decent eats to be had and it was AYCE!!
(actual video of me paddling down 36 as I get to where the old Chinese Buffet used to be)
I just drove by there to bring Mr Bean’s car in for servicing, after not being in that area in ages. Do you know what’s going in there? I was also surprised to see that the old Sawa is going to be a Chick-Fil-A
Yes, I knew that! lol Since I live in the area it’s our first Chik Fi-A outside of the mall so I’m kinda psyched. I understand and respect all those who have issues with them, but for fast food they are the superior option out there.
Lol! I thought the same thing about there being one in the mall and now one out. They are probably less than a 1/4 mile from each other but it would take 20 minutes to get from one to the other with all the traffic and u-turns in that area.
