Really? Even if they taste terribke fresh?
Itās in the FAQ: Possibly in the future, but at this point, no.
Likewise, they are promising only to TRY to cater to allergies. They may regret this down the line, as people will claim allergies when itās really just dislike.
Yep. PurĆ©ed or crushed and cooked with other things, theyāre just a component,
Ha. Yeah. One of the reasons I stay away from CSAs is this. Right now, Iād probably request cucumbers and eggplants be excluded, and I can give those away if they came. But come summer, Iād be giving away half my box - stone fruit!
Why not make sauce and freeze that instead.
Because if you freeze a few tomatoes this week and a few next week, you only have to make sauce once.
The tomatoes werenāt in good shape. Freezing them would not have changed that.
The avocados are perfect. All thatās left from the box is one small butternut squash which Iām going to make curried.
Thatās my friends order and she is thrilled with it.
Too many local farmers here, no need for me at this point, especially with Earthman āDennisā
I appreciate that you keep referring to the main web page. Iām just hoping that the company is able to live up to those various goals. What actually arrives is more telling than a well written business plan.
So far, pretty darn good.
If they continue to grow will they be able to employee enough drivers to keep requested schedules? Will they have enough produce each day to offer variety?
I think many of us have experienced what growth can mean to a new company trying to offer a wide delivery range.
Well my order arrived via FedEx. There are similar companies in england that have the same concept and have scaled up accordingly, same with the west coast company Imperfect Produce.
Iām optimistic!
Time will tell. Every two weeks our order arrives. We wont stop shopping for produce locally but we will wait to see what arrives from MM before produce shopping. Otherwise the point of being more resourceful with produce remainders is pointless.
Personally I think its a darn shame grocery stores donāt do this as part of their business model.
Got my box yesterday!
Receiving the delivery was kind of epic but thatās due to the fact Iām in nyc and I donāt have a doorman but I think i can figure that out.
I was so surprised how much was inside! Crazy value for all this organic produce- as far as i could tell there was absolutely nothing wrong with any of it. The delicate baby lettuces were a little wilty but came back to life quickly in some cold water.
I recieved a big bunch of swiss chard, two oranges, a big bunch of carrots, four sweet potatoes, a bunch of little red potatoes, an eggplant, two little yellow summer squash, four apples, two mangos (those were super creamy and fantastic!), five baby lettuces and a bunch of green beans.
Mine was the one time order smaller sized box. Check WFD for what i make with it!
Interesting now that I can compare. Your one time box is twice the size in contained produce compared to our every two weeks subscription.
Our first every 2 week delivery comes tomorrow (Friday) and I will post the contents. If it comes close to TWās I will be quite happy with it.
If our next box is considerably different in terms of overall weight/contents from that wonderful box, I will contact MM.
As many references have already been made to what the MM website states, weight of the overall produce in the box you are ordering or subscribing to should be consistent customer to customer and week by week even if the indiv produce items differ.
Valuable comparison shopping!
It was all in the same box with same packaging that yours was- or that chowdom posted. I think they just go by whatās on hand and filling the box.
I like that thereās minimal packaging involved and that the bags they do use are compostable (although Iām unable to compost at least they do break down, feels like a better option than recycling)
Iām not referring to how the produce is packaged. There was no problem with the box, ice pack or insulation. I am noticing a difference in the total weight of produce each customer receives. The MM boxes arenāt only sold with what they have on tap any given day of the delivery week, itās also priced by weight.
Iāll contact MM if I feel I need to. My wife recād the first few boxes and last week I saw what arrived myself while she was out of town. What we recād was in very good shape but not at all the amount of produce you received. Shouldnāt that be consistent within reason?
Iāll base my question on what arrives next week.
Donāt forget that there are two different sizes of box, one twice the size of the other.
I had hoped to try a sample order for Passover, so I emailed them last Wednesday asking if ordering today would get it here next Thursday. I never got any response, so I decided not to risk it. They may provide better customer service for subscribers.
Yes, I realize there are two sizes. If subscribers are getting better CS then my box, since my wife has subscribed, would be as plenttiful weight wise as Tthrockwood, who placed a one time order. She said, Mine was the one time order smaller sized box. Check WFD for what i make with it!
Iām not looking to argue, I am just curious. The price is based on the weight of produce you are paying for. I did not receive 10-12 lbs of produce last week.
Maybe they try to really impress with the one time orderā¦hoping you will then become a subscriber.
