Michigan's UP and Ludington ; where should we have dinner?

This will be our first trip to the UP and I already know it won’t be long enough. We’ll be spending two nights in the vicinity of Sault Ste. Marie. Then we’ll head south to Ludington for one night and we’ll catch the ferry the next morning. I’d really appreciate recommendations for dinners in those locations. Fine dining is okay, but so is great local food with local ambience. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Sault St Marie: Goetz Lockview Restaurant is a bustling “mid-scale” dining spot. Very popular with locals. Terrific Whitefish dinner, also features a varied menu.

Karl’s Cuisine, not Fine Dining, but still upscale. Most expensive dinner is the restaurant’s Ribeye Steak–$30.

Both are located on Portage Street with viewing of the Soo Locks, just yards away.

Can’t help with Ludington. Never visited.
