I heard that restaurants patrons are indeed down per family though at the same time they claim its actually better time to go eat. No huge lines, better service because you’re not hurried. I personally would go back right now haha just don’t have the free time.
I have some friends that will be visiting around Christmas, will ask them for more restaurant news. Heard that possibly 1/3 of the restaurants would close, some landlords are willing to reduce rent to share the burden.
Recently, places are divided into yellow or blue camp according to different political belief, making the delicate situation even more fragile.
though sometimes I am bemused by some fears to not even visit HK due to these relatively peaceful protests. I can’t imagine that many people say they won’t visit France due to the Yellow Vests. In either case, I do hope HK retains its unique position. There’s just something more interesting when places intermingle and generate more interesting culinary creations.
