HI Fellow Foodies - looking for some new recommendations for foodie restaurants and spots in South Florida. I live between Hallandale, FL (near Fort Lauderdale) and Los Angeles. And I have tried a bunch of spots in Miami - but looking for new ones. . . let me know thoughts.
If you can drive north as far as Lake Worth, OCEANO KITCHEN.
And of course, BUCCAN, in Palm Beach…
Both chefs have been James Beard-nominated; BUCCAN is Michelin-listed.
I know there’s a Los Angeles in CA, but am unfamiliar with the one in FL….
When you say ‘foodie’ do you mean to avoid downscale places that look more like diners?
I had to check the map, but there is no Los Angeles in Florida!! I´m also stumped by the ¨foodie¨request…
Perhaps OP lives in San Antonio, the mid point between LA and Ft. Lauderdale.
We go down to Hallandale Beach and Miami often. Going back in a few weeks. Our current faves
In/Near Hallandale:
At Peru in Hollywood
Motek in Aventura
Piola in Hallandale
Fort Lauderdale:
Rustic Inn Crabhouse (been going for almost 30 years)
Coconuts
Lona Cocina Tequileria
Miami:
Old’s Havana
Niu Kitchen
KYU
Tropezón
Trying soon: Stubborn Seed
Their cornbread is like crack in baked form.
Rustic Inn used to have a good deal on stone crab claws, but it looks like they are gone from the menu. A classic for Florida seafood.
I do believe that, after several visits, Le Tub serves the best burger I’ve ever had, though this is not a recent rec. Another Ft Lauderdale institution is Jaxson’s Ice Cream. The ice cream sodas deserve legendary status.
