[Miami Beach, Florida] Orange Blossom

We’d heard about this place just round the corner from the Plymouth Hotel where we were staying for a couple of nights. It’s in another hotel which is in the same group as the Plymouth. We were able dine “al fresco” which was great after the confines of a long transatlantic flight.

A couple of salads to start. Grilled romaine lettuce for one of us. Softened but still crisp leaves with a Caesar dressing, croutons and a sprinkle of Parmesan. And a garden salad for the other – mixed leaves, corn, cucumber, carrot and a nice dressing zinging with lime.

Lobster ravioli were lovely. A restrained portion of five or so ravioli but good pasta, filled with small chunks of lobster. A brandy cream sauce set it off. A Wagyu burger was delicious and had all the toppings that you expect from a well made burger – cheese, pickles, fried onions and lettuce. And the fries were good as well.

Service was spot on – friendly and efficient. Worth noting that, as apparently many restaurants in the area, they add an 18% service charge to the bill. That’s fine with us – as Britons we are used to service charges replacing old fashioned cash tipping. The server pointed out the service charge, mentioning that nothing extra was expected by way of a tip. Assuming all his colleagues do the same, you’re not going to have folk who don’t spot the charge and end up effectively tipping twice.

We went back for breakfast on the two days we were in the area. Thoroughly recommended .
