[Memphis, TN] Central BBQ

Central had come recommended – and our experience confirms the recommendation. You order at the counter, find a table and they bring the food to you.

There was a plate of pulled pork – moist, tasty meat drizzled as requested with a tangy South Carolina style mustard sauce. It comes with a bun or biscuit and your choice of two sides – in this case, green beans and a good, chunky potato salad.

The other order, a brisket sandwich was piled high with meat. It wasn’t as good as the pork but it’s not missing by much. It comes, as standard, with a mild vinegary sauce and coleslaw.

The meats were barely warm and we wondered if this was a local thing as it was the same in Nashville and has not been our experience elsewhere in the south. It wasn’t a big enough issue to spoil dinner, which was really enjoyed.
