[Melbourne] Italian eats at Brunetti

Brunetti on Lygon Street in Carlton (Melbourne’s Little Italy) has always been one of my go-to places for Italian pastries, especially their little hand-moulded bocconcini del nonno: a flourless almond biscuit with a sour cherry centre.

Brunetti, in its current incarnation, started in 1991. My first taste of its pastries was actually at its Singapore branch which opened in Sep 2011, and I absolutely adore its coffees and cakes. So, going to its Lygon Street location during my recent Melbourne visit was like a pilgrimage of sorts.

Brunetti opened a new flagship store in Flinders Lane, within Melbourne’s CBD area in Nov 2017. The Flinders Lane store has that slick, swish feel which caters to the city’s business set.

Breakfast at Brunetti @ Flinders Lane: Arancini, Parma Ham & Mozzarella Pastry, Latte

Tea at Brunetti @ Lygon Street, Carlton

My fave dessert of all time: Rum Baba - literally to-die for.

Clockwise from top-left: Bocconcinni di Nonno (with sour cherry centre), Bocconcinni with citrus peel & almond flakes, and Biscotti al Pistacchio.
