Lol! Nice one ![]()
Livin that boujee lifestyle at 30,000 feet!!
Toasted bagel with cream cheese from the airport bagel shop and a banana that was past its prime, dessert course was a cookie and coffee complimentary of WestJet
Cathay Pacific Business Class from Hong Kong to Toronto ( October 2025 )
One of the most impressive and delicious full western breakfast encountered
However, dinner disappoints…especially the special ordered meal of ’ Baked Crab Shell, Hong Kong Style '. The hard, impenetrable pita bread cover ( instead of bread crumbs ) was a joke. Crab meat was nonexistent, the cream sauce dry!..and this was supposed to be the creation from a Michelin 2* kitchen!!
The pr
e-dinner Kiwi & Coconut milk smoothie was delish though!!
Choices, Delta ATL to Sacramento
Husband has had the Shake Shack buger before and is choosing it again.
Qatar economy is meh. I didn’t eat a single bite of the food on offer on the return flight, because forcing myself to eat a bit on the outward flight just made me feel like s**t. I carried some dry crackers to nibble on. Even my husband, who will eat anything, thought the food was pretty poor. Qatar used to be better.
EVA AIR : Osaka Business Lounge and Business Class meal from Osaka to Taipei ( pretty decent for a 3 hours flight )
Heading back from ATLANTA to Sacramento on Delta .
I always get the braised dish. Short ribs. It was aight.
Husband enjoys the Shake Shack buger!
I had some plane food on a recent trip to Japan via United.
SFO-NRT in economy:
I think this was chow mein with a salad and a brownie.
There was a ham sandwich at some point that I forgot to take a pic of outside of its wrapper.
Pancakes with fruit salad and bread for breakfast before landing, not bad. The other choice was an egg dish.
I flew business class on United for the first time ever on the return flight NRT-SFO, got a good rate with points. Here’s some pictures of the United Club in Narita Airport which one has access to if flying business. I also wanted to check out the ANA lounge but didn’t have time.
Desserts - there were cakes and also some mochi with kinako.
Dim sum.
Chicken and meatballs.
Fried rice and penne.
Vegetables.
A somewhat depleted station with appetizers.
Hot dogs.
Salads.
Chirashi sushi bowls, pretty good!
There was a ramen station.
And also a curry station with both Japanese curry and I think an Indian keema curry.
This was pretty cool - a beer machine with frosted glasses.
More booze.
And here’s some pics of United business class plane food.
Champagne and snacks.
Business class menu.
There were a couple of western menu options and a Japanese option. Of course I chose the Japanese option ![]()
Curated sampling of Japanese appetizers
simmered mushrooms with chrysanthemum flower and crab meat, purple sweet potato croquette, fish cake with yam and egg yolk glaze, and lotus root cake.
Steamed sea bream
with grated turnip, bok choy, sweet potato and gin-an sauce. Served with chestnut rice, Japanese pickles and white miso soup.
Pretty good!
There was a sundae cart that went around after dinner.
I missed out on some of the snacks because I got some sleep, the lie flat seats are pretty nice.
Roasted yellowtail
with leafy greens, tofu and tamago egg roll. Served with steamed sesame rice, Japanese pickles and clear soup.
For breakfast, a Japanese breakfish of fish, rice, pickles, and soup. Quite nice.
Nothing says classy better than champagne in a plastic cup!! ![]()
The ANA lounge at Narita tends to be more crowded but has made to order soba, udon and curry. Good sake and shochu selection. Food is better overall than the UA lounge. Try it next time if you have the chance. Your UA business class ticket will get you in.
We either flew to or transited through Narita many times in the early- to mid-2000s. And each time, we were taken aback at how meager the offerings were. We always seemed to end up at the pub that overlooked the tarmac/runways. I wonder if things have improved, food choice-wise?
They have improved but not that much. Haneda has much better offerings airside. Landside there are some better options at both airports.

Thanks, will have to give it a try if the opportunity arises, it’s within a bit of a walk from the United Club but I didn’t have the time and my gate was pretty close to the United Club.
I just flew coast-to-coast for business and back, and on the first trip I was offered one (1) package of two (2) Biscoff cookies.
On the return flight today, 5 hours, I had a choice between one (1) stroopwaffle, one (1) “chocolate” (it was a chocolate quinoa thing - hard pass) and one (1) bag of execrable pretzels.
After my last coast-to-coast flight, which was delayed 3 hours over dinner time and there was virtually no food on board, I was prepared this time with a large bag of food from home.
Yikes! What airline was this?
One way was American, the return trip was United.
That just sucks, anything over 4+ hours deserves some kind of meal, even on economy. Sad ![]()
Yeah. That ship has sailed, unfortunately. I’m planning to stop flying before they have stand-up stalls instead of seats, and charge you to use the restroom.
SAYONARA JAPAN!…….Hong Kong Part 2, here we come!
EVA AIR Osaka Kansai Airport Business Lounge and last Japanese Kaiseki meal on board plane ( Boeing
787-10 ). So rare to find an airline serving German Riesling on board!
Best white grape in the world ![]()
