This is a very small restaurant which describes itself as ‘Latin American’. Looking through the menu and having eaten there now, I would say it was Latin American influenced or inspired.
My son and I arrived on just before 9pm on a Thursday evening and the place was really busy. It seems to be only one smallish room, tastefully decorated in a dark grey and muted gold scheme. Service was prompt and friendly and we were seated after a short wait.
To drink - a watermelon spritzer (£9.75) which was refreshing on a humid evening. We were told it was a small plates concept and for two persons we should order 4-5 plates. I was wondering how 5 plates would fit on the tiny table, but soon realised when they say small, they mean tiny.
Quesadillas were very tasty - filled with cheese and roasted garlic. But only 4 tiny quarters on a doll’s house sized plate - for £6.00! Forgot to take photo.
Seabass ceviche (£12.50). I’m not a fan of raw or cured fish, so my son ate this by himself and pronounced it excellent. He literally wiped the plate clean. This was served on a slightly larger plate to allow space for the thinly sliced fish.
Patatas bravas (£9)?!?! I had seen this on neighbouring tables and thought it was a dessert. Unexpected presentation consisting of a perfectly rectangular slice of perfectly cooked thinly sliced potato with a crunchy golden exterior. Topped with blobs of crema. This was the best pick of our dishes. We had ordered it to go along with a small plate of sliced steak (£10.50, forgot to take photo) which was served medium rare with chimichurri sauce.
Pork pibil tacos (£9.50). These were just OK. Tortillas were overflowing and impossible to eat by picking up - had to go the knife and fork route. Would have been better if the filling had been distributed between 3 tortillas rather than 2.
None of the dessert options seemed particularly summery and lacked appeal (to us) so we got the bill, which included a discretionary 10% service charge with a note that service charges are equally distributed amongst the staff.
