Marilyn’s Pizza [Sacramento, Midtown]

This place has been here for a bit, but isn’t normally on my radar. As the partner is out of town, I gave it a shot.

It’s a very basic slice shop. You can get slices or a whole 20” pie. Slices are a reasonable $5-8 depending on toppings. There’s a fridge of packaged drinks and a few outdoor tables. That’s it.

The pizza is decent. The undercarriage is all nicely crispy, but the plain slice was quite plain, indeed. I needed up tossing a ton of shaker ‘parm’ over it to get some actual flavor going. The pepperoni slice fared better, but I was still glad to have sprung for the side of marinara for crust dipping. I used it liberally.

All in all, perfectly serviceable if you’re in the neighborhood, but in no way memorable. If you want really GOOD slices, go down to Pizza Supreme Being.
