Marginal (Peniche - Portugal)

Second good dinner in Peniche at Marginal https://www.instagram.com/marginalrestaurante_peniche/?hl=en directly at the coast with a nice view in the sunset and towards Berlenga Islands. Perhaps the only small complaint would be that for the first time the service was quite rushed (normally not an issue in Portugal)

Bread, olives, cured goat cheese

Bonito, kimchi

Mushrooms “Bulhao Pato”

Amberjack filet with mushrooms and nuts rice

Chickpea and mushroom curry, basmati rice

Grilled black pork, sauteed cornbread crumble, fries, salad

Serradura

The chickpea/mushroom curry seems a bit incongruous with the other ordered dishes but delicious nonetheless. I would make a bee-line to it. Or the amberjack. Or the mushrooms. Or the bonito.

We really love the cooking here in Portugal but we also talked about that it is quite protein forward often (surprisingly few salads and vegetable heavy dishes on any menu) and so our daughter wanted the curry to have a dinner without any meat (the also had a squid curry on the menu - not sure if these are some influences from the Portuguese colonies in India (Goa etc) as some of the restaurants had curries on their menu)

Honkdottir is my kind of girl!

We loved Portugal and the Azores but sometimes, it was tough to find veggie/vegan options.

Wow, that’s the kind of meal I dream of. Thanks for sharing. When I travel, I am always on the lookout for dishes I would never see back home. The visuals are awesome.

I have not been to Portugal, yet, but I have long thought I would include Peniche on my itinerary. Although I never see it on trip reports.

Did you get out to the islands yet?

We didn’t get out to the islands on the trip as the weather was quite windy and relatively rough sea
