It’s reported by the Evening News that the Kwok Man is to close. The restaurant - one of Chinatown’s longest established places - has been there for 55 years. It was always a decent lunch spot but, more than that, it was the place a young Harters would go when food AND booze was required at anytiome past midnight. I think they used to stay open until 4am but can’t vouch for quite that late.
They are on the fringe of Chinatown and blame the ongoing roadworks and Metrolink works for the loss of trade. Apparently they stopped opening at lunchtime some while back as daytime trade dropped off due to the works.
A loss of what was almost a city institution.
