This fast expanding, once reliable and trusted Chinese/Hong Kong style bakery has placed profits and greed ahead of value and quality.!
In the past they used to be one of the top Hong Kong style bakeries and prepared- food places in town. Products were authentic, consistently high standard and tasty, pricing was most attractive!..lunch time crowds wee unreal!
Sadly, based on my last two visits, these attributes are no longer the case! Not only were prices hiked ( understandable due to inflation?! ), quality standards have greatly deteriorated! Their once tasty and packed full of chicken morsels ’ Chicken a la King boxed rice ’ has now only 3 pieces of chicken meat in the topping ( compared to at least half a dozen or more in the past ). In their place were unattractive, el-cheapo potato chunks!
The iconic Hong Kong style ’ Fried buns with minced curry beef fillings ’ was another huge disappointment. The chopped egg and onion components, added to compliment the minced beef filling are now replaced by hard, unattractive and cheap frozen carrots and peas! The entire character was lost!
Worse still, the fried dough of my bread today was dominated by the taste of stale, rancid and re-used oil!
So sad!!!
