Pancreatic, damn. At least it was rather quick
And here are the ones that won him the Pulitzer.
Thank you for sharing that link, ernie: I am trying to avoid giving any traffic to the LA Weekly site and so haven’t been there to reread some of his (many!) classics. This was very bittersweet.
This morning, I read an article on Grub Street highlighting the planned tribute,
“city of Gold”
Wish I could take part.
If you’re on Twitter, the #LAGold #CityofGold and #JonathanGold hashtags will show some of the images/video of LA bathed in gold light in Saturday, @Rooster.

Personally, I think the best way to honor the man is to seek out new-to-me foods and cultures - whether I’m here in Pasadena or elsewhere - and break bread.
In doing so, may I better myself and, I hope, forge connections and appreciation for the richness and complexity of the world.
Agree but its pretty cool to see a quiet humble writer honored this way. What he meant to so many displayed in a single remark. pure gold.

Not to mention the up and coming writer.
This is perfect and so bittersweet, too.
From a few days ago…
Read a few tributes on the 2nd anniversary of JG’s passing.
Revisiting stellar and fun reading.
