We went up the valley last weekend for a little leaf peeping and apple picking - the foliage was a bit disappointing, but we had a great cider donut at Wilkens Fruit and Fir Farm and then a fantastic lunch at Whiskey River in Peekskill. We go to Peekskill pretty regularly so I’m not sure how we’ve missed this place up till now, but we’ll definitely be back. Fantastic burger, even better hand-cut fries, a nice selection of local beers on tap, very friendly service. And fun Halloween decor, if that’s your thing.
Welcome back!
Thx …hope you are well and enjoying the South
Loving it
Any suggestions for fall foliage tomorrow (Sunday). Thinking of Bear Mountain.
We went over to Rockland County today for more Fall fun - the weather was just too gorgeous to resist. Started at Apple Dave’s near Warwick for a cocktail and a wander around their absolutely beautiful grounds. Didn’t pick apples because they don’t grow any of my preferred varieties, but they’re well worth a visit just to drink in the beautiful scenery (there’s a lovely walking path outside of the orchard and lots of outdoor seating overlooking the hills). Then a stop next door at Applewood Winery for a wine flight (not a ton of options if you’re not a fan of sweet wine, but I did like this year’s dry rosé. Finally, Drowned Lands Brewery for lunch and a beer). Delicious Neapolitan style pizza and a gorgeous bowl of mussels in saffron chorizo cream broth, plus a nice berry sour and more beautiful views. We considered a stop at Bellvale Creamery for ice cream on the way home but we were too full. A perfect fall day in the HV.
