[London, W1] Rogan ditches Fera

Hot on the heels of ditching his much touted place in Manchester, it’s reported he is ditching the even more touted 1* Fera.

If my recent experience is anything to go by, this may not be a bad thing. We recently ate at the French in Manchester - it was a more enjoyable experience than the three visits under Rogan’s direction, where the “ambiance” was far too much up its own arse for us.

I get the feeling, at times, that Rogan likes a challenge, but then gets bored and wants to move on. I had lunch at Fera a year or so ago, and it was a very nice meal, although the portions seemed quite small for what we were paying. That said, it was lunch. I wonder where he’ll end up next.

If I was him, I’d get my arse back to Cartmel and work for the third star. A Good Food Guide rating as the best restaurant in the country can’t harm that ambition.
