A favourite restaurant and home to many of my most enjoyable meals over two and a half decades but I haven’t been for a while.
This was signature simplicity and perfection:
Egg Mayonnaise, three halves of just hard-boiled egg with three anchovy fillets sitting on mayonnaise. (I cook, this is simple, but I know my own attempt would not have come close.)
Beef onion and kidney pie, suet crust (crisp) top and (soggy) bottom with some greens.
We drank some lovely wine and I cannot remember enjoying a meal more.
