[London] Sartoria

In Jay Rayner’s scathing review of the new regime at the Criterion, he said that Sartoria is the place for high end Italian in London. And he is not wrong. We went there for our anniversary last week. First time we have been there since the refurb, and it hasn’t lost any of its charm. Lots of the lovely staff are still there, and the food is sublime; Italian but using seasonal British food (hence my Welsh lamb ragout). The pudding in particular ( sort of deconstructed Eton mess with rhubarb) was lovely. Yes, it’s a bit spendy, although well below the £200 for two that the Criterion cost in Jay Rayner’s review.

Now that sounds like a good idea.

I have rhubarb and I have meringues.
