I’ve enjoyed a few patios in London this summer.
Los Lobos, which serves tacos and a few other Mexican dishes.
I like the tacos, would avoid their enchilada.
Idlewyld Inn, where I had lunch yesterday, which has a covered terrace which would work in a light rain. My DCs had the seafood linguine and a Caesar salad. I tried a Chicken Caprese Sandwiches, with grilled chicken, boccoccini, pesto, prosciutto on toasted sourdough. I would probably order something else next time but I liked the concept, so I may experiment with the same ingredients at home. Portions are large. My DC and I will share a main next time. There’s a $5 fee for entrée splitting, which I won’t mind.
Barney’s, for old time’s sake. The patio looks nicer than it did 25 years ago when I was a regular. Unfortunately, Barney’s no longer makes strawberry daiquiris. Their blender drinks used to be made with fresh berries, rather than bar mix.
The server let me know Barney’s no longer serves any blender drinks. The mixed drinks are Toronto prices ($18ish), and the one I ordered- a Bahama Mama that was nothing like the Bahama Mamas I’ve ordered maybe once or twice 20 years ago, was meh. Sort of amateurish cocktail.
The nachos were not very good. I miss the Barney’s of yesteryear.
