(London, Kensington) Stein's Berlin

German food is a tough sell in Toronto. Not particularly popular with the masses, and people can get a cheaper pork schnitzel experience at some casual Polish spots in the Polish neighborhood or at one of the few Hungarian restaurants that continue to survive (there are only 2 Hungarian restaurants that are surviving, there were dozens 20 years ago.)

We do have a couple hipster bierhalls and a hipster doner kebab place, and 2 old school low end German spots in the suburbs, one of which is run by a South Asian chef who lived in Germany before moving to Canada. We don’t currenyly have any modern upscale spots that offer sausage, schnitzels as well as good quality tortes and pastries.
