LetsSweet Kitchen [San Francisco, SoMa]

I was picking up some stuff at the Container Store in SF today and had lunch at LetsSweet Kitchen across the street. LetsSweet Kitchen is in the former Beyond Cafe location, and is a cha chaan teng / Hong Kong style cafe. They serve some of the same items as Beyond Cafe did, and are in a soft opening right now.

Here are the menus. They have the same ordering system as Beyond Cafe where you can mark off what you want on the menu with a dry erase marker.

Condiments - chili oil, red vinegar, white pepper, and sugar.

To drink I had a cup of their Iced Lemon Tea ($5), which was cold,
refreshing, lemon-y, and not too sweet.

To start, I had some Curry Fish Balls ($8.5 for 10) from the “HKStyle Small Bites” menu. They were quite tasty. They had a nice bouncy texture, and the slightly thick curry sauce had good flavor and was a little spicy.

I also had a bowl of the Braised Beef Brisket Noodles ($15.5), which was very good! The brisket was plentiful and mostly very tender. The noodles were very good - springy with lots of “Q.” I added 4 wontons for $5, and I think they were as good as the ones from Beyond Cafe. It was a very satisfying bowl of noodle soup.

Glad to hear the Braised Beef Brisket Noodle lives on. I mostly care about the brisket, and the springy noodle, but didn’t like as much about the wonton at Beyond. So this is good news.

Are they busy? Did the wall go?

When I went, they were about to close up between lunch and dinner so it wasn’t busy. The wall is a big mirror now.

I had lunch at LetsSweet Kitchen today. I had the Braised Beef Brisket Noodle 牛腩麵 ($15.50) again, only dry this time (+$3.00), and another order of wontons (+$5.00). This was very good. I had it with the thin noodles, which were again bouncy and springy with a nice Q texture. The brisket was again tender and flavorful but with still a bit of chew. It’s a pretty large portion. I added some chili oil and vinegar from the table to some of it.

The side of wontons.

I also had the HK Style Rice Roll 混醬腸粉 ($9.00), which was quite good. It had slightly thick cheung fun topped with sweet hoisin sauce and sesame paste. I added some hot sauce to it.

The current menu.
