I probably hold the record of posting 7 years late. I had it saved as a draft. Here was a pretty good sushi meal at Yui Edomae. Anyone else been recently?
My notes were too incoherent so I would skip that.

That has to be the record.
I have eaten at both Yui and Kabuto in Vegas which are considered the best omakaze in Vegas (not including the Strip). I would take Yui over Kabuto by a hair. Our meal at Yui was a few years back but not 7 years ago. At the time I thought Yui would compare very favorably with many of the high end omakaze in LA/OC but probably not in the top tier.
Here was my slightly cleaned up notes from the meal. Not everything made sense. But I think the general impression aligned with your assessment: quite good, but not quite top top, since there were a couple of areas that could use some attention. But then again, the pricing wasn’t top top also. I recall the meal was $1xx at the time.
