Wanting a meal that we could easily eat while giving out candy to trick-or-treaters, we finally tried the east end location of Lambo’s Deli.
Every week they feature a hot sandwich and this week’s special was roast pork, provolone piccante cheese, roasted long hot pepper, and sautéed rapini, served on a toasted sesame seed Vienna roll, with pork jus and pickled peppers on the side. A nice nod to the pork and rapini sandwiches we have enjoyed in Philly, with strong roasted notes on the pork and a tasty jus.
We also tried the one with mortadella, sharp provolone, garlic aioli, pickled fennel, red onion, iceberg lettuce, giardiniera, oil & vinegar, and oregano. Excellent overall, even though the richness of the aioli was somewhat unnecessary given everything else.
They have a fun selection of beverages, including a mangosteen seltzer that we’ll have to try next time.
