Posting pics for a lunch set menu review to follow
I have a bit of history with this place so when they closed it was a tremendous loss for moi.
I was glad to see them open up again after a hiatus.
The place has seen a major overhaul and other than certain areas locations one can hardly
recognize it. Very nice setup.
I opted for the set lunch menu and it didn’t disappoint.
Here is the play by play
Palate cleanser with muscat grape from Korea.
For a cold day I stuck to a bo lei tea which is presented nicely
Hot and sour soup top notch with premium ingredients like scallops and prawns cooked just right. Good start for a cold day.
Duck spring roll I thought it was one of starter selection but it came with the set menu. Fried well and not oily at all
This being a lunch I chose a lighter main. Ma po Tofu with scallops didn’t disappoint. The skill level
is at play here and ine notices it that even a mundane item green onion is cut in a diamond shape. Bravo to the skill of the chefs.
Dessert was a mango sago with grapefruit supreme and nice cool end to the meal.
Presentation is elevated here folks and top marks for service.
They are priced quite high and the bill was similar to Spring Moon in HK from eons ago as that was my go to lunch spot when I used to visit that region often (I am sure their prices have doubled or more) this lunch isn’t that level. I haven’t visited Mott 32 but that seems like a closer comparison. I saw dinner menu prices and gasp worthy for Toronto. I used to love their Peking duck so might visit again to try it or revisit for splurge meal (lunch likely)
