After some late Sunday night tacos at Tacos el Charro, I had a post taco snack at La Oaxaqueña. La Oaxaqueña is open late - until 2:30 in the morning. As one can glean from the name, La Oaxaqueña specializes in Oaxacan cuisine. And they also have Mission burritos and some other non-Oaxacan dishes.
Menu
I didn’t get an Oaxacan dish this time - instead I had the panuchos ($4.95 each) with cabeza (+$1 each), which I understand are from the Yucatán. Among the meat choices is chapulines / grasshoppers if one is feeling a little adventurous.
These were some very good panuchos. They had a crispy corn tortilla shell base with a generous amount of refried black beans on top. There was cabeza / cow head meat which was a bit fatty and had some nice crispy bits, a slice of tomato, and a slice of avocado. Pickled red onion and cabbage helped cut through the fat.

I also had a jamaica agua fresca, which was quite sweet.
I went back tonight for a late dinner and had a mini tlayuda with carne asada ($15.99 + $0.75 beef surcharge). A tlayuda is an Oaxacan speciality that is a bit like a pizza. There was a thin crispy corn tortilla base, which was topped with creamy refried black beans, iceberg lettuce, the carne asada, Oaxacan string cheese, tomato, some avocado slices, and a decorative flower. It was a very good tlayuda and quite large even for the “mini” size. I applied some of the salsas - a bright and tart tomatillo salsa verde and a pretty spicy salsa roja.
