[Kuala Lumpur] PS 150 - the Speakeasy at the former brothel row

PS 150 is a speakeasy bar along the former brothel row at Petaling Street, which also encompassed trendy eateries, Cho Cha Foodstore and Merchant’s Lane. Its innocuous-looking toy stall frontage hides a secret doorway into the coolest bar in KL at the moment.

  1. The front of PS 150 is an innocent-looking stall “selling retro toys”.

  2. Ask for the bar and the “toy-seller” will point you towards the inconspicuous wooden door behind him.

  3. Push open the door and step into a dark, atmospheric corridor lined with curtained booths, reminiscent of the place’s former incarnation as a brothel.

  1. At the end of the dark corridor, a door opens up into an open alleyway.

  2. Walk through the alleyway and a door at the end of it is the coolest bar I’d come across in KL.

  3. Jungle Bird: PS150 Edition by Angel Ng J. - Aromatic Spice Rum, Pandan Rum, Pineapple, Campari, Lime, Gula Melaka Syrup.

  4. Raise the Red Lanterns - an ode to PS 150’s former incarnation as a house of ill-repute.

Address: PS 150, 150 Petaling Street, 5000 Kuala Lumpur. Tel: +60 3-2022 2888.

This place would be in serious contention for the coolest bar anywhere, not just KL. Serious mid-century retro-cool.
