[Kuala Lumpur] Cantonese Beef Noodles from Yung Kee, Pudu.

This is the much-talked about beef noodles spot in Pudu - Yung Kee Beef Noodles at Kwai Hup coffeeshop. Superb beef consommé, with good quality beef, beef tripe, beef tendon and beef balls, over “lai fun”, smooth thick rice noodles.

Owner-chef, Albert Lai, 43, is Cantonese and born in Sandakan, North Borneo. His grandparents are from Hong Kong.

Tender beef shin, slow-boiled for 7 hours in a Cantonese herbal stock. Other ingredients served with the noodle soup include beef tendon, tripe and minced beef ball.

“Lai Fun” is a thick, laksa-like rice noodle with a slippery consistency and soft texture. Very similar to the type of rice noodles served at Odeon Beef Noodles in Singapore.

Is the ‘han lam’ and ‘song lam’ quantity limited for each day? Which one did you have on the menu?

What is ‘bun sa lam’?

I’ve no idea - I just told him I wanted a bowl of “everything” in it
