I feel we should have a Korean fried chicken thread
After the closure of Pelicana nearby I felt like replacement was due so after a bit of research I ordered from NeNe
I had the hot bling bone in today.
A nice spice kick that lingered for a bit and sweet after taste. Good stuff
Also enclosing a picture from Pelicana before they closed in downtown I believe they still have location in Mississauga.
The super hot and spicy was so hot I had a hard time (I can handle my spice but this was a bit much!) the one notch below was very good
Also adding a the grocery store version here
H-Mart boneless hot served the purpose during covid (no more on UberEats)
And galleria bone in version around the York Mills location that was a somewhat recent visit was ok as well. The one with the lid on in pics
I admit, I prefer the Korean fried chicken that isn’t covered in the sauce.
I haven’t ordered any recently.
Home of Hot Taste was a place I enjoyed a while back.
I’ll probably try Sarang Kitchen
Yeah north York specifically that area is very good for authentic Korean food IMO.
Despite being decently reviewed I have not enjoyed bb.q chicken offerings much. Either there is too much batter or the sauce isn’t to my liking.
Home of hot taste is now bookmarked for next time.
MyMy chicken is mainly in GTA so a bit of the radar for moi
Good to know re: bb.q chicken.
I almost never travel to North York to eat, now that I live south of Bloor. I really like the Bloor St Koreatown.
I haven’t been ordering Korean Fried Chicken or most other fried chicken in Toronto the last year or so, apart from occasional karaage, because I eat ordinary Canadian Mary Brown’s fried chicken about once a month when I’m in London, Ontario.
Also tried the fry a while ago wasn’t impressed at all bb.q is slightly better imo
The Fry in the Annex always looks a bit grimy, with dirty windows, which is the main reason I’ve never gone inside. Other restaurants at the same price point make an effort to keep their windows clean.
