Would have been more informative if the writer mentioned, in a sentence or two, why the college went insolvent.
Not hard to find out. Financial difficulties due to declining enrollment (24% drop from 2012 to 2016).

Good observation and I bet my old journalism professors would agree.
Sadly, the reasons for the college’s closure have been well-publicized locally.
