Kinship in DC - A Quick Hit

I ate once before in Kinship years ago, and I found it impressive. Finally returned for two dishes.

I am told that people go to Kinship specifically when sweetbreads are on the menu. Chef Ziebold is famous for them. I have to concur. This is a perfect rendition served over an elegant brown mushroom sauce. In all, perfect texture. Bravo.

The lobster french toast is a mainstay of the menu, and I figured it has to be a success. It’s an expensive dish, so I had high hopes it would be money well spent. Unfortunately, the bread part is so thin I am wondering what its purpose is. Did not register, and it is easily overwhelmed by the butter sauce. For full disclosure, I will take crab any day over lobster, and this dish is not one to change my mind. It was not money well spent.

Kinship! Wow, it’s been forever for us, and I remember really liking it. Too bad about the lobster, but the sweetbreads sound perfect.
