French place from the Lazy Bear folks in the design district. Nice space, upscale French bistro feel with cozy booths and a sunroom on the side with a bar and high tops.
Tight cocktail list, but full bar if you want anything else.
The Jou Jou - French Gin, Blanc Vermouth, Rouge Vermouth - very nice. Rosarie - Hibiscus Tea, Rose Syrup, Soda Water - excellent mocktail.
-Acme bread and French butter with sea salt.
-Big eye Tuna with passionfruit, fresh cane juice, radish, macadamia nut was good, the passion fruit seeds provided a nice crunch, but a bit tart.
- Broiled Oysters with shallot glacage and périgord truffles were excellent, I could have eaten dozen.
- Chicken Liver Mousse with sauternes gelée, strawberry, sorrel and brioche. I’m a sucker for chicken liver and this was a perfect dish, although it was better on the Acme bread as the brioche toast was kind of too rich.
-Lobster Bisque had an intense shellfish flavor, and herb flavor, not creamy or with sherry like a lot of renditions. - Petrale Sole Meuniere, brown butter-basted on the bone with lemon-caper brown butter was the only fail - sauce was good but the skin wasn’t crispy and with so many small bones they really should at least offer to debone it.
- Pommes Frites with garlicky aioli were good.
