I was stunned to read about James Kent passing. Only 45. No word of cause. Very talented chef. Saga is an amazing place. I wonder what is going to happen with the restaurants and bar given the split earlier with his business partner.
There is some talk about issues with anxiety on Reddit. I was curious and poking around. A few people who worked with him or knew him in college seem to be talking about his death on Reddit. Very kind things being said about the chef.
The linked NYT article now says he passed after a heart attack, per his wife.
A heart attack at 45? Jeez, that is way too young.
Sadly I’ve seen too many of these. Friends, family members, all under 50. Youngest was 28. Usually from excessive stress, smoking, obesity.
RIP
Heart attacks also can be the result of an undetected valve issue or other mechanical issues, that can be genetic, and can have nothing to do with lifestyle.
I know someone in what appeared to be close to perfect health, who died on the treadmill at 50, no known risk factors at the time. His wife was away, and his best friend happened to be next to him on another treadmill at the gym when it happened.
Some thoughtful comments about him in this SubReddit.
