It's 3.14 ... How are you celebrating π day?

We celebrated Pie Day—er, Pi Day—with old-timey classics: chocolate cream and butterscotch.

These slices were purchased to-go for later enjoyment from the South Freeport Village Market in Maine. Thus the whipped cream got flattened in the container. The person packaging our order enthusiastically added what looked like housemade chocolate sauce, but truly the pie itself was enough.

Insides of the pie shells were coated thinly with dark chocolate. I imagine the baker did this to keep the filling from making the pie shells soggy.

P.S. If anyone has a go-to recipe for butterscotch mousse pie, I’d be interested. I adore butterscotch so I think the flavor is due for a comeback.

St. Urho's Day (March 16) breakfast, Pulla, coffee and lingonberry jam. The jam also accompanies the Finnish meatballs for dinner.
