ISO a good Toronto restaurant with live music

Does such a place exist? Anywhere from Woodbine to Ossington, Lake Shore to Eglinton will work for us. So long as there’s a band or soloist performing on a Saturday night and the food is delicious, we’re good. DJ’s need not apply.

I don’t know if the music will appeal at these venues.

Christina’s on the Danforth has live Greek music on Saturdays.

The Emmett Ray is more of a music venue that happens to have good food. The food has been excellent every time I have visited.

Drom Taverna is another music venue with good food. Pan Soviet menu. I have only been for the music but I have heard the food is quite good. I think it the La Palette bistro owner owns it.

La Chuperia on College has a mostly Mexican client base and they have a mariachi band on Saturday nights. I have not tried the food yet.

El Trompo has a mariachi band some weekend nights, especially once the patio is open.

Bar Reyna had jazz in the back patio once it’s patio season Hit or miss food, expensive for what it is.

My friend is a jazz composer and musician, and I’ve seen him perform at The Emmet Ray, and Bar Reyna - that is how I ended up trying the food at both.

Bar Pompette has a limited menu including croque Monsieurs. They used to have jazz on Sunday nights but I’m not sure if that is currently on.

Out of the places I have mentioned, the Emmett Ray is my favourite. Really big whisky selection and nice cocktails. It isn’t fancy. It transports me to a different place.

The Berczy Tavern on the Esplanade is mentioned on Reddit.

I have not been.

Yannick Bigourdan is involved. Probably a good option!

I will also mention Bindi’s Burgers at the Monarch. Bindi’s is on the 2nd floor, the live music is usually on the ground floor.

Dr John’s visit to Lula Lounge on Dundas W.

Reposado Bar & Lounge comes to mind but the food left a lot to be desired. Good music though on both visits.

That’s a very generous answer. Thank you.

Hirut has live jazz and decent but limited Ethiopian food options (though a bit toned down for me). It’s a great cozy space for a relaxing evening.

We (group of 4) went to Berczy a few weeks ago. The restaurant at the back was somewhat dark because sunlight to the back is shaded from the window at the front by an immense wine display wall around the middle of the room. It did have an upscale tavern feel.

We shared the appetizers that included crab cake (not good, more filling than crab), fish crudo (OK) and lamb belly (quite good). For the mains, I ordered the Lobster black spaghetti which came cold which they replaced and also comped the dish (which was quite good hot or cold!). My wife ordered the duck confit which she said was very good. The other couple shared a steak for 2 special that included a bottle of wine (under $80) which was a good deal.

Wine list was reasonable with usual high Toronto markups. However, we noted there was a special Sunday Roast menu where wine and other booze were half-priced. That’s a pretty good deal!

Music started at 8:30pm (may vary depending on date, schedule is posted on website) which offered a nice ambiance, although it was kind of noisy at the back from people talking that somewhat drowned out the piano music since the piano was situated at the front obstructed by that large wine display wall.

Service was excellent and, overall, it was a good experience and we intend to return, probably to try out the Sunday Roast.

Glad it was a good experience overall.
