I had a cat who would eat any tomatoes left to ripen on the counter. So tomatoes must be a thing. I’ve never had a cat who liked cocktails, but one of my current ones is very interested in sniffing open bottles of beer.
In my on-going struggle to limit alcohol consumption, one of my favorite drinks to order when we go out is a Virgin Bloody Mary - especially at places I know have generous garnishes. We also enjoy unadulterated V-8 juice with a lot of our lunches at home…
My weirdo eschews people food, with a notable exception for tinned tuna (its what a well meaning neighbor fed him when he was on the street) and…get this…tikka masala. He would stand on his head for chicken tikka.
Bottom line? Cats are weird. And they have more food foibles than most people.
+1
I prefer the more inclusive general well wishes.
I say, “Happy whatever you celebrate.”.
Didn’t “Frank Costanza” solve this issue once and fore all, with Festivus?
Not only is it all purpose, but the infinitely reusable aluminum pole saves the boreal forests.
Don’t forget the airing of the grievances.
And the “The Human Fund”!
George was my favourite character in that series.
Have any host or hostess gifts impress you lately?
What do you like bringing as a gift?
I’m bringing a bottle of wine and maybe some nice cheese to a dinner party in the near future.
What else would you recommend? I don’t want to bring flowers, candy or chocolates.
I just got some excellent ginger cookies (made by the guy who made our wedding cake). And mini-hamentashen. I don’t think I would want cheese, because 100% I am putting out cheese anyway. But wine is always welcome.
Thanks!
Ginger cookies and Mini Hamentaschen sound great.
I bought a giant Toblerone. It was demolished.
I’m 2 chunks through a white Toblerone, that I bought on the 27th. The giant Toblerone are currently half price at Ontario’s Rexalls, as well the tins of Quality Street, and most Turtles. Terry’s chocolate oranges are down to $3.96 CAD at Rexall and $3.44 CAD at Superstore.
Well, this was a “fun” blast from the past read
Never fails to amaze the things folks will argue about.
We have one person who loves this, but it was $20+ at the airport and I thought that was a bit egregious!
it’s been a while, so i may have mentioned this. but, i make soup and freeze in labeled pint containers so i can bring two or three to stash in their freezer.
I got mine for $7 CAD (Boxing Day price) LOL.
The white chocolate fondue in the Molly O’Neill NY Cookbook mentions it. Lindt came up with the fondue to help market the white Toblerone.
