Ice Cream, gelato, etc. [Toronto] [GTA]

I ended up in Yorkdale and had to peak at Laduree’
Somehow instead of the usual French toast I ordered two scoops of ice cream chose pistachio and rose topped with Chantilly cream and meringue
Pistachio ice cream so so good. Maybe even surpassed the gelato offerings from top gelato spots imo.
Somewhat reasonable as well imo for what you get. Friend has isphan which was drizzled with raspberries and sauce and lychee went really well.

I stopped into Soma last week; the last time I was there I bought chocolates, but wanted to try the ice cream this time. I knew I theoretically should order chocolate, but couldn’t bring myself to do it. They limit you to two samples (!) and I didn’t love either of them, so I went rogue and ordered half strawberry (my all-time favorite) and half blueberry sorbet.

The strawberry was one of the best I’ve ever had, and that’s really saying something. It was tremendous.

Nadège is selling ice cream. I haven’t tried it since I have ice cream at home right now.

Oh they have been doing it for a while. I recall having it a while ago and don’t remember it being anything out of the ordinary though it has been ages so they might have improved.

Any ice cream made with all natural ingredients is extraordinary.

Well I do make ice cream at home with all natural ingredients and somehow its not the same

The temperature, amount of air , mouthfeel, so many variables. I used to make ice cream, and don’t bother now.

Good Behaviour was my favourite ice cream 2 years ago, when they shared space with Morellina’s near Fiesta Farms.

I don’t get up to Geary Ave much lately. I haven’t been to Yonge St north of Bloor for months. I haven’t had Good Behaviour ice cream this summer.

Yeah I hear ya its not worth it IMO to make it at home as almost impossible to get the same results as commercial versions.
If you are referring to Knockout Ice Cream on Geary I refuse to go there after I spotted a major health code violation (a pet in the kitchen!!) and even spoke to the owner/manager and the response was nonchalant. I understand people like pets but the health codes are there for a reason for commercial operations!

There is a Good Behaviour off Geary. 342 Westmoreland. https://goodbehaviourto.ca/
I guess the Yonge location is no longer open.

Forgot to add tried dolce vita gelato. Very good and imo I can skip trips to futura granita as this place close by and for the lack of better word reasonable opening times.
They have it in the counter under the main bar drinks area.
I tried salted caramel and hazelnut both hit the spot

Finally got around to trying ice creamonology.
I had the pistachio. While it has nice amount of actual pistachios I found out it overly sweet. Don’t venture out to this area anymore but glad I got to trying it out as came recommended. Not sure it’s worth a revisit

My frozen craving is Belly Ice Cream. Made locally in Huntsville, 100% all natural, and all very tasty. It is what Häagen-Dazs was before Nestle ruined it. You’ll find Belly Ice Cream at Brett’s Ice Cream, select grocers, and Metro.

Hands down favourite flavour is their Scotch Whiskey with Smoked Almonds & Salted Caramel. It is as good as that sounds.

Onyx now has soft serve. Today it was Thai iced tea, topped with fresh mango and a drizzle of chocolate condensed milk sauce, plus a stick of Onyx dark chocolate.

Got around to trying mizzicca gelato today. Good stuff I picked up at Yonge Eglinton area location as was in the area. Good thing this place had no lineup despite the blistering hot weather today. Good alternate just like bakerbot for moi if you want to get your ice cream or gelato fix sans the lineups.
I picked up pistachio which was very good. IMO one of the better ones in the city. I will be back or order delivery (bit of an upcharge but beats schlepping up here) they did charge tax btw (I guess the technical threshold is 500 ml)

Tried Creamery X after a longish walk from our house. Flavours were good to great and mouthfeel was variable - some a bit granular.

Portuguese custard tart - the best for flavour, texture, and had pieces of pastry in it.
3 berry balsamic cheesecake - next best for flavour
Pineapple basil - nice pineapple, basil MIA
Chocolate - OK, but lacked the bitterness I prefer in a chocolate ice cream
Mango Tajin - nice idea but didn’t quite work

Semi melty gelato from the newly opened Mizzica Gelateria at Y&E. Went right after dinner to avoid the lines, grabbed a scoop of pistcchio and a scoop of nocciola. Tasty stuff but at $8(including tax/tip) for a “medium” cup , I doubt I’ll rush back there.
