How to halve a cake recipe

I’m planning to make a flourless chocolate cake but only want to make half. The original recipe is for an 8 inch pan. What size pan would I use for half? I tried to do some pi*r^2 math but figured it’s smarter to ask. Alternatively I could freeze half?

I let other, smarter, people do the math for me.

I’d use ramekins or a muffin tin and make individual portions.

Sometimes weird *ish happens when multiplying/dividing baking recipes. Flourless choco cake is really forgiving so i think you will be fine. And it freezes really well.
