One of my PIC’s favorite gins. We usually take most martinis with a twist, even though bars tend to add a slice of cucumber to Hendricks.
I tried some Dolin dry vermouth recently, and don’t really like it. It’s more subtle than the Carpano I’ve been enjoying. I’ll keep using it to see if I develop a taste for it.
Subtlety is its strong point for me. If you like a more assertive vermouth, you might like Vya, but Carpano is a great choice.
Today’s martini was Bombay Sapphire and Carpano. I did add a small splash of water to lower the ETOH. It was balanced and satisfying.
Too many people just freeze their gin rather than stirring, or even shaking, it. The melt water is an essential component of the drink. About a minute of stirring or half a minute of shaking provides the right amount. We use 47 turns or 38 shakes, but that is another story.
Today’s martini was a chilli guava martini on the balcony at the NMACC Arts Cafe in Mumbai. Ketel one vodka, clarified guava juice, organic vinegar?!? Martini purists will not be happy. But it’s a nice drink to sip on a lovely late afternoon in one of the world’s great cities!
Great sounding drink. I am a martini purist, but I think I would enjoy one of whatever it is.
Same! It sounds really refreshing and the perfect beverage in a hot climate.
