[Hong Kong] The disappearing Hong Kong street-level wet markets

Yes, yes and yes. A few places we’ve eaten at didn’t even have any signage with a name. At which time, I take a pic of the nearest street sign(s).

Maybe a screen capture of google map is useful too. :smirk:

Great idea!!!

Noticed on another thread that you have an Asian trip upcoming. If I may ask, what countries are up for consideration?

If I may submit, we are enjoying the hell out of Korea. The facilities/infrastructure, the folks and the food. This trip was mainly for our nieces. After two weeks here, wife and I are already talking a return trip. For ourselves.

Hong Kong for 2 weeks. Confirmed.

The other 2 weeks, our preference for the time being goes to Laos. But transportation isn’t that straight forward, so 2 weeks may be short to travel from North to South.

I quite like to go to S. Korea, husband doesn’t seem too interested (this year). Other possible choices can be Taiwan or maybe Singapore + something.

Very nice!

Back to HKG in August. Will spend couple of weeks on the mainland. Will try hard to visit Kaiping, I understand our family home is still standing.

Laos is still a bit “adventurous” for us at this time. Love Taiwan, dreaming of buying a second home there after we officially retire.

360º change, don’t have enough time for Laos, need 3 weeks or more than 2. So probably next year.

You’re so convincing that we are now 90% sure heading to Korea. :joy: Some persuading to Mr. because he likes hot climate, he isn’t too hot with K food, but I think he will change his mind after the trip.

Plenty hot in Korea today and for the next few months.

The Mrs. and I were rather ambivalent about Korean food prior to this trip. We’d eaten in Korean restaurants maybe three times in the past five years. That’s all changed.

From our very first meal at 1am in the morning upon landing, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed almost every single meal here.

Sadly, our two week visit ends in a few hours. Our last dinner was at a ayce bbq place. As it turns out, YouTuber Mike Chen had visited recently. ~ USD$15/pp, an incredible value. I’ll throw up a review on my Korea thread.

In the meanwhile.

Yeah, looking forward your post(s)! Doing research now! I guess Korean food is very stereotype outside their country, always the same stuff.

When I participated Korean cuisine months here a few months back, I discovered some great dishes.

For really good eateries, can you give it its own thread, if possible? It makes it easier for us to Google search for it by its name in future.

You are brave to submit to the humidity in August. I refuse to go back in the summer now. My sister and my mom are also heading back in August, but I can’t deal with the weather then. :expressionless:
