After spending a night
marish and horrendous stay at the ‘Fake 5*‘, Harbour Grand Hotel, Kowloon. The first experience bestowed upon me upon checking into this, my Oriental trip’s 8th hotel, was like comparing ‘ Day with Night ‘!!
A contemporary but slightly aged property, this hotel has undergone recent extensive face lift and beautification renovation. Room sizes were spacious and tastefully decorated with neutral tone and minimalist trims. The sparse but pleasantly appointed furnishing includes a stylish and comfy sofa. The King Size bed, cushy, incredibly comfortable and appropriately firm.
The modern, spic and span and well supplied washroom/shower has ample of room to move around.
Next came a couple of most pleasant and welcoming features. The first was a conveniently located, complimentary, duo option ( hot and cold ) filtered drinking water dispenser on every floor. The second, an even more rare and handy surprise…a self operated laundry service room that allows guests to do their own laundry at leisure and in privacy, all at a most reasonable price!
However, for me, nothing beats the exquisite and stunning view from the window!! So surreal and serene! To open the blind first thing in the morning and seeing this tranquil panoramic scene was spiritually up-lifting!
As a cornerstone to the mega shopping complex - New Town Plaza, the hotel is directly connected to all its development phases as well as the Sha-Tin MTR/ Train station and bus terminal. Talk about convenience!!..It took me less than 18 minutes on the new MTR line to get from Sha-Tin to Admiralty on the Hong Kong island side! Absolutely amazing!
An abundance of quality eateries, including Michelin guide ones, scatter inside the shopping complex within short walking distances from the hotel. Tim Ho Wan, known for its quality Dim Sum; Tasty’s for authentic Hong Kong style noodles, congees and more; Lei Garden for refined Cantonese fare; Peking Garden for Peking duck and Northern Chinese cuisine … .etc. For the ‘home-sick‘, yearning for a good burger, there’s even a Shake-Shack a stone throw away!!
For the foodie in me, I simply love being surrounded by three tip-top super markets….Yup! Three! all within a 10 minutes walk from the hotel……Marks & Spencer food hall, City-Super and YATA Japanese Super Market! Great for buying souvenirs, food and snacks….etc.
With everyone talking about or investing in AI these days! The Shopping mall arcade floor outside of the hotel entrance is constantly being patrolled and cleaned by newer versions of R2 D2! So cool!!
