HONG KONG DAY 6 - KWOK SHUI HEEN, Wan Chai - An impressive banquet style farewell dinner hosted by a close, century old, family friend et al!

The host of tonight’s special farewell, banquet style dinner for Rosy and I, is the grandson of my father’s childhood classmate and best friend. The host’s father also happened to be one of my best friends with a remarkable friendship that lasted over half a century! Similar to the patriarch before us, we too were college-mates

, both studied at the University of London and shared the same residence!

The venue of this rare gathering was held in an unfamiliar touristy part of the city. Our direction to get there was to follow the Mid-Autumn lantern street decoration outside the MTR exit and head over to a circular skyscraper with a McLaren Super-exotic car dealership next to its entrance! What a cool instruction!!

The menu for tonight’s well prepared, lavish and extravagant Cantonese dinner consists of the usual, traditional exotic and sumptuous ingredients and dishes!..whole Roasted Suckling Piglet, Stir fried jumbo Razor Clams and Tiger Prawns (omitted to take photos! Sorry!), Stuffed whole Crab Claws, Bird’s nest with freshly shucked crab meat soup, Braised whole sun dried Diver Scallops (Conpoy), Shitake mushroom and Peashoots, Braised Sun dried Abalone and Goose Web in supreme oyster sauce, steamed whole tropical Ocean Tiger Grouper, Hand held oil poached Crispy Free Range Chicken…..etc

A fun night of great food paired with great company, laughter, nostalgic remembrances and reliving decades long fond memories!

Upon returning to my Sha-Tin Hotel after dinner, I happened to notice the resident Cantonese restaurant of my hotel has the SAME name and sister to the restaurant I just returned from! …..Small world!!
