Homemade Boba Tea

Yesterday’s project was making Boba Tea. BF was just crazy enough to make the Bobas from scratch using tapioca powder. It was kind of amazing watching the dough gradually lose its color and become almost translucent. We made two different teas: Oolong Milk Tea and Matcha. This was a pretty extensive activity when you consider it only produced these two mugs, but it was actually a lot of fun!

Would we do this again? I don’t know. As a day-off activity it was fun but highly impractical for when you’re craving some bubble tea. The Bobas had good texture and mouth-feel but were too large and retained more molasses flavor than I thought they would.

An interesting way to end '21.

I tried to make once, but the tapioca I used was too small, compared to those bought.
