Pear tart turned out well. The pears oxidized a little despite the lemon juice used to thwart it and I over-poached them a bit. However we all loved it. I’ll do it with different fruit next time.
Those look amazing!
And she’s not far from me at all!
Traditional cookie plate: From top left: honigkuchen plain, honigkuchen lemon iced, linzer cookies, nussecken, coconut rochers in the middle. Tomorrow there will be old school Christmas cake and a steamed pudding. Happy Christmas!
Nice to know someone out there in North America is steaming puddings for Christmas. (My mother started doing a steamed fig pudding — from Craig Claiborne’s 1961 NY Times Cookbook — before I was born.)
Tart looks great!
This is really beautiful.
Final bake of the pastis gascon. I loaded up the phyllo this time, and buttered more aggressively.
Note to self: be sure to bake in the bottom third of the oven.
Now that’s a show stopper!
Coincidentally, yesterday the NYT wanted to show me a video about petit gascon.
Yeah, I saw that recipe less than an hour after I stumbled upon the Ottolenghi version. Figured it must’ve been a sign.
bookmarking those thumbprints, mostly for the key lime curd.
Best laid plans and all that … ended up with three cookies (snickerdoodles, peanut butter, gingersnaps), oatmeal/jam bars (filling of strawberry and cranberry), and buckeye bars. Have the ingredients for the other things I was planning on making but ran out of steam.
Several mishaps (do we have a holiday food mishap thread?), per usual.
You’ve certainly accomplished more than I have in terms of baking!
Xmas day breakfast - we usually do overnight French toast but I saw this much simpler recipe, and we threw it together in between present opening. We loved it. Forgot the vanilla, oops.
It’s so beautiful. I’m not big on apple desserts but I think you’ve convinced me to try this.
Watch the video is my advice !
I keep them in the freezer. In an air tight container, in a single layer with parchment paper in between.
Looks very impressive to me!
Cacio e pepe potatoes anna for tonight’s dinner. Served with roasted turkey breast, mushrooms, green beans, gravy and salad. A very simple recipe to put together from Smitten Kitchen Every Day. Will post dessert later.
