Holiday Baking 2025

@rstuart - those are the best! How thick did you make them, and how long did you bake for?

Thank you!

Official batch of party amaretti are done. For this batch, I used my most precious pistachios - Sicilian ones. I only bought 4 oz because $$$$$, but that was enough for this recipe.

Color and taste are :heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes:

Is it really worth the extra $$$???

I always think, in a blind taste test will I really tell a difference.

Linzers baked; these will be filled with a mulled wine pear butter I just took off the stove.

Im so tempted to make these cookies

Dooooo iiiiiit!

Alright, oven is off. I baked a small selection of cookies for a cookie exchange this weekend in BK; I proposed it in the hopes I could connoiter with some friendly cookie obsessives.

I made the Dorie devil’s thumbprints, the pistachio amaretti, and a new recipe for almond linzers with a dynamite mulled-wine pear butter filling. I haven’t tasted those last ones yet - very excited.

Tomorrow morning I start making the doughs for shortbread and gingerbread. I know I won’t be feeling up to all that I’d like to to be baking this year. Shortbread molds for neighbors and gingerbread cut outs for the tree. I don’t know who is doing the dessert fr our family Christmas celebration on the 26th. I’m making the clam chowders ( two Boston style—one all out, the other subbing in cauliflower for the potatoes and flour. I bought a boat load of clams to steam for dinner tonight and extra to steam and freeze for the chowda. Someone, not me, is making the ‘Caesar’ salad and someone else wil be making the garlic bread. With the soups completed, I’ll just sit back and let the wrapping paper, ribbons and fireworks fly😉.

Love the idea of chowdah!

Alright, cookies are packed for my journey tomorrow. Three kinds, exactly right for my tri-partite cookie tote :christmas_tree::heart:

It’s subtle but lovely.

I’m on the train with all my goodies.

Except I forgot the mulled wine pear butter I laboriously made yesterday for my Linzers.

Sad.

Super bummed.

Now I have to buy something to fill the linzers for the party, which as a baker and a jam maker, pains me very much.

I also spent at least $20 on the ingredients. I can of course use it for other things, but ….
