Holiday Baking 2016

Jumping the gun, perhaps, but I have a couple of bags of Amish Friendship Bread starter in the freezer and just noticed this fruitcake recipe, for which I plan to save one of them:

Not exactly baking, but we made my grandmother’s toffee today; seven batches.

Pouring molten sugar onto the granite slab.

All done.

For Christmas dinner dessert I’m making Paula Deen’s OOEY GOOEY Pumpkin Cake (for the first time). For New Year’s Eve, I’ll be doing an easy, three ingredient, Dump Cake.

Lots of cookies and chocolates in the house already.

I’ve made three batches of toffee so far and need to make another this week. It looks very much like your grandmother’s, though my recipe is courtesy of a former co-worker. (I don’t recall my grandmother baking/candy-making anything.)

I’ve also made the stand-by Toll House, chocolate sea-salt caramel cookies, chocolate cookies with vanilla chips and brown butter cookies with milk chocolate chips. Yes, I am trying to empty my pantry of chips.

My electric mixer died yesterday so I have to get out tomorrow and replace it.
