HO Dinner 9/12/24 at El Rey Del Pescado

Sounds like a fun meal. I dont remember what else we had when we went but the Aguachile was actually my least favorite. Bold flavors and I can see why people like it, but that level of tartness on itself didnt quite work for me after the initial bites. The drinks were good.

I think that describing it as a “fun meal” is exactly right. Good company, friendly place, tasty food, overall a very satisfying dinner. However, if you look at the pictures taken & posted, just try to figure out how these individual different items could be shared by 5 in any meaningful way. If/when I return, I think that I would recommend that each person get one of the same tacos/tostadas/empanadas for themselves or to share with one other so that everyone gets to have a half/whole one of the same thing to taste. Ordering a sampler plate of 5 different ones, then trying to get each person a taste of each is just not doable and impossible, at least for me, to determine which pieces of things were which and which I liked most. However, I am very happy to report that there was not one item that I didn’t like my taste of and that I’d be happy to order almost any/all of them again. And, further, that this is a place I wouldn’t hesitate to return to.

Let’s go when I’m back — I missed it too

Cool.

I enjoyed the company quite a bit, as always, but this certainly wasn’t one of my favorite meals as a whole – to me, the seafood flavors were too muted. The tostadas were my favorite for the texture contrasts, but a lot of the other items ran together a bit. That said, I tend to be a bit harsh on places here in my own neighborhood for some reason, so keep that in mind!

I haven’t been to Mariscos el Submarino but I’m now curious to try it for comparison purposes.

I’d be happy to join, I really liked our meal there.

Me too re Mariscos el Submarino if it works out

Getting a minyan together!
