Henley? [UK]

Going to Henley on Sunday and want to eat at the best place in town. Whats good?

A colleague recommended the Bull on Bell, but as always, I prefer the opinion of strangers online to real people.

We’ve driven through Henley many times but only had lunch there once and that was years
ago. If you drive a bit further, there’s a lovely restaurant, The Swan, on the Thames at Streatley.
I’d guess you wouldn’t want to drive more, but it’s the only place I can think of around there. Another pub
we liked, off the M4 I think, is no longer in business.

Are you going to row?

The plan had been to have lunch at “Shaun Dickens at the Boathouse” which is Good Food Guide listed. In the event, Henley was heaving and we, literally, could not find anywhere to park. So, no recc, I’m afraid.

We ended up at the Olde Bell in nearby Hurley which was decent enough pub grub.

Food looks good at Shaun Dickens, perhaps slightly too fussy for a 2 year old and 4 year old though.

I made a reso at the Bell on Bull. Looks fine - surprised there aren’t more better pubs in Henley.

A bit late for this poster but some recommendations in the Henley area where we have had great meals are:

Orwells in Binfield Heath
The Crooked Billet in Stoke Row
The Crown at Pishill
The Greyhound in Rotherfield Peppard
